Why a video call works fine for this
Nothing here needs a handshake. We look at the same numbers on screen, the questions are the same ones, and there is no paperwork to sign in a first conversation because there is nothing to sign up to.
Ontario
You don't have to be in the GTA. I'm a licensed life insurance and segregated funds advisor with Affinity Financial Services Inc., and most conversations happen by video call with people anywhere in Ontario.
Nothing here needs a handshake. We look at the same numbers on screen, the questions are the same ones, and there is no paperwork to sign in a first conversation because there is nothing to sign up to.
In smaller communities the nearest advisor can be an hour away, which is the main reason people put this off for years. A call removes the travel, not the substance.
Shift work, young children, two working parents. Evening and weekend calls are usually easier to arrange than a daytime meeting, and a call is easier to reschedule than a drive.
My licence is held in Ontario, so insurance and segregated funds can only be arranged for Ontario residents. The education, calculators, interactives and seminars on this site are free for anyone in Canada, wherever you live.
Everything on this site is free and needs no sign-up: the coverage and goal calculators, the Discovery Lab interactives, and plain-language articles on TFSAs, RRSPs, RESPs, FHSAs and insurance. Plenty of people never book a call, and that's a perfectly good outcome.
Meetings happen wherever suits: in person around the GTA, and by video call anywhere else in Ontario, or by video call. There's no charge for a first conversation and no obligation afterwards.
